It is not a very nice place to be at the moment because she is sick. Some flu bug or so she says. Some germs are coming across and disturbing me but other than that, I think I am faring better than mummy is. Wonder why she is so weak. After all, she is bigger than I am. Should be a better fighter right?

Oh well. She is at home now. Or rather at my M grandparents’ place. You don’t know how happy she is to be home and not at work. Well, I do. I know her from the inside… out. Daddy thinks I will be out soon… You think I should meet his desires? He says these few days… But then, with daddy, time is flexible.

Yesterday the two of them were talking about inducing me should I decide to hang around longer than erhmm, what did they say now… ahh… 41 weeks. Daddy says they will start the discussion at week 41 to have me induced by week 42. Seems like they cannot wait to see me! Eh, wait a sneaky minute… today is only week 38 and 2 days. Ok. Maybe they are not that ready to see me yet.

She says she is dead-tired… I wonder why she is tired. Afterall, she is not the one who is doing the growing per se. Most of the work is done by me right?

Look, I was given a deadline of nine months to develop from a single fertilised egg into a baby with zillions of cells. Surely I deserve some credit too? Ok, I know, I know. I had supernatural help from God. But but… surely my efforts count for something…?

Heck, I cannot tell whether the sun is shining out there or Mr Moon and his entourage of stars are up on duty already. I can only make small guesses. If I can hear daddy’s voice for a long period of time, it usually means it is night outside. Otherwise, if it is constantly mummy’s voice, it is highly likely to be day.

Mummy has applied for leave already. She has taken a week’s leave in advance of my EDD so that she can have a break before I come along. She knows though I might just want to appear earlier… so she is bracing herself for it. Daddy too… He has this funny idea that I will make my appearance when the semester ends, just in time as he puts it. Well, we shall see what happens WHEN it happens.

Last Friday I overheard the nurses at the clinic making an appointment with my parents for this coming Friday… that is erhmm, 2 days’ time. Nowadays, the doctor gets my mummy hooked up to this machine for something called CTG scan. Apparently it monitors my heartbeats and also whether there are any contractions. Mummy is usually a tad uncomfortable with this test although all she really has to do is lie flat there. Something about being forced to stay in one position all the time? Sigh… I am stuck in one small area all the time! It is even worse since about one month ago. This space just does not increase to match the needs of a growing baby. There really is not much “space” to talk about. I do hope the promised land outside is a lot bigger. Having my limbs tucked under is not my idea of fun.

I have not decided whether I shall be punctual, early or even late. I have heard though that my P grandparents are planning to have what they call reunion dinner early on the 10th of February, so that the whole family can sit down and gather over food.

Apparently once I am out, mummy is unable to get out of the house… Instead, she has got to be ‘confined’ at home. Oh well. Let us see whether the walls are going to be crashing in or not. If not, maybe I will just hang in here a while more and let everyone have their way feast.

Meanwhile,  I must really say that there are a whole host of things that look really exciting out there! There are cute toys and all sorts of shapes and sizes. And the clothes! Oh, they are cute! Many seem printed with nice pictures of what looks like an assortment of animals. Some have been packed away after washing while another batch is fluttering in the wind right now.

Mummy says the clothes are really good and that I will get to parade around in them when I am out. I think it is her way of serving me the eviction notice. Good try but it has not worked so far. She actually says I could have been out since last Saturday! Something about me being a full term baby at 37 weeks. Whatever. It is so confusing. Think I shall go back to sleep.
