Stand up for Singapore !!!

I am proud to report that I am now able to stand (with some assist of course) and is now practising to walk. Soon, one small step for Jayden, one giant leap for the family !!!!!

Love my parents for the milk that is helping me grow.

I am good, in fact I am finger Licking Good

There are times in your life where you learn about your own body that shocked you. Like the time when I realised that I am able to perform the Jayden Maneuver on my dad. Recently, there is another shocking discovery;

I taste very well; so much better than my milk.

Evidence 1: All the adults are are saying “mum mum; “good boy”…etc to me

Which prompts me to try to taste myself. So I took a chance and put my hand in my mouth, and Oh myGod!!!!!!!!!

I am finger licking good

I just cannot stop nowadays, yum yum, I am good, the growns up are right, I am finger licking good.

My name is not Ben or Jerry; why name my stuff like that

Today I got  new presents from Dad or Dad’s friend as he tried to explained to me. The cup and bib is really cool; and I must admit I look cute in them. (A recent poll among the few I know states that 100% of them agrees that I look cute in anything I wear.) What do you think?

I am little moo son of moo moo I am little moo, the son of moo moo!!! Beware…

Anyway, the other stuffs are great too and even I am impressed by the design…

I am not ben nor jerry’s

I am very thankful for the presents, but I must protest that they have gotten my name wrong. Again, I hope to remind the reader that my name is Jayden, or NG YONG RUI, not Ben nor Jerry (Just check with my mum, Dad’s name is not Ben or Jerry too). How could you have such a beautiful bip and not got my name correct?

Lastly, let me introduct you to ……. my precious. My precious….

Despite what is written on the cup, this  belongs not to Mr Ben, nor Mr Jerry’s; it belongs to me, Jayden Ng.

1 month … almost

Hello! Been really busy exploring the house to write much about how things are. I have discovered that M Grandparents’ have a nice kitchen with this black box that emits noise. Sometimes there is singing, other times its talking. I wonder who its talking to because I am certainly not responding to it. Its… foreign.

I have also found that there is a person living in a book and he mimics my actions. These days M grandma or mummy bring him out to visit and lay him beside me in the cot. They turn to this page where you see him in this oval part of the page. Its a bit sad that he is constrained by such a small space. The name written under his face is “GENIUS”. I am still trying to make friends with him but it is kind of difficult when all he does is follow exactly what I do. He looks really familiar somehow. Maybe I have seen him somewhere… maybe in the nursery at hospital? Some day I hope we can have a decent conversation together.

Things seem to be moving along here. Just last night I heard mummy planning for a party. I wonder whether I will be going too. It is going to be held soon. Two in fact now that we are talking about it. P Grandma was talking about one this Saturday when she dropped by with P Grandpa yesterday. Sounds like a big affair with cakes and lots of food. Wonder whether I will get to eat any of it. Better be on my best behaviour these days else I get left behind again when daddy and mummy go out. You know, they have been sneaking out for quick shopping trips without me. How unfair. Don’t they treat me as part of the family?

Sigh. I guess adults have to be trained.

Introducing the Jayden Maneuver

Every kid has to be unique and different. I mean how can I leave behind a legacy to the many babies if I am not able to pass on some important lessons behind to the world….Life is sooooo short.

The idea came to me as my daddy tells me stories of his science fiction TV shows. He tells me of the show of space exploration, with a wonderful space ship called the Enterprise. He also commented on how I looked a lot like its captain, some fella called Picard. He was suppose to be a very good captain and invented something called the Picard Maneuver. I decided that I should have a maneuver named after me, so that babies of the future can called it the Jayden Maneuver. Anin’t it cool if a baby can do something special to their parents and they say,”Hey, my baby is doing the Jayden Maneuver !!”

It is not easy, but I think I am beginning to master it. What happen is that when it is time (usually at2 am in the morning) for my diaper change, I hold back one last pee pee as I call for my daddy’s attention. As my somewhat sleepy daddy is changing me, I will wait for the diapers to be off before I shoot my surprise at my daddy. This have never fails to impress my dad as he will exclaimed in a loud voice, “Jayden, what are you doing!!!!”

“Daddy, I am giving you my Jayden Maneuver !!!!” I cry. Too bad he doesn’t understand baby talk.

Long Live the Jayden Maneuver

So far, daddy has not learnt to be prepared for the Jayden Maneuver yet.

Current score:

Daddy – 0 : Jayden – 4

puppy or piglet

We have settled back at home already. I am enjoying my new bed. Its so much bigger than the one in the hospital. These days I do not see many faces… just Mummy and Daddy, the grandparents and this other couple who stopped by to help Mummy handle me.

She says I am a greedy little fella that demands so much milk and drinks so fast, yet refuses to nurse from the breast. Hmm. So I have been getting a mixture of milk. You can hear this strange whirling sound on and off when Mummy tries to express milk out for me. I gulp it all down within 5 minutes making both her and Daddy say I know how to enjoy life.

I wonder where the rest of the faces I saw while in the hospital stay. Perhaps we could sneak out and meet them. I spied some of the gifts and M grandma and Mummy unwrapped them. They look so wonderful! Cannot wait to get my hands on them… Maybe when Mummy is not looking… or has her hands busy with the breast pump.

Oh yes, I have a question to ask. Am I a little piggy or a puppy? Some relatives have told Daddy that I am rightfully a little piggy as it is already the new year. But the hospital gave me a gold coin of a doggy! Maybe I should get both…? That would solve the dilemma.

*yawn* Thinking is too tiring. I am off to sleep again. See you later. Nowadays I have settled into a 3-4hourly routine of waking and sleeping. M grandpa says I am a good kid unlike Mummy who was always awake and keeping everyone on their toes.

a test of patience… and endurance

9th Feb

It was getting a little cramped in the womb. Much as I like being close to mummy, I figured that the grass is gonna be greener outside. So I tried hard to get out. I think this longing translated into slight dips in heartbeat and the cramped space meant I moved about a lot less. This made Dr Chan think I should come out immediately. Yay!

Mummy and daddy headed home first to grab their things. I was a bit bored with all the waiting. They finally checked themselves into the delivery suite around 1plus in the afternoon. The decorations in there were so lovely! The nurses really put in the effort. As it was February, and close to Valentine’s Day, hearts abound from the ceiling. Mummy took some pictures I think. You should be able to see them in the scrapbook.

Anyway, she was in Room 2 and given some introduction to the room. She promptly popped in my favourite cd and settled on the bed. Dr Chan came by around 2pm. She burst the waterbag… Felt really funny… like my cushion just slowly gushed off around me. Mummy says that it would probably be something similar to when I get my feet wet at the beach. Something about when the waves swirl around my feet. She promised to bring me to the beach soon. Oops, side tracked again.

… where was I? Oh yes, waterbag… so well, she waited for the contractions to come. They were pretty mild and she was happily doing Sudoku. By 4plus she got a tad hungry but before she could eat, Dr Chan ordered her to start on the drip to induce contractions. They got more frequent and really painful. Can tell she was in pain by 8pm. She tried the gas mask but it did not help. Finally around 9 she got her epidural.

Eased her pain tremendously and she settled down comfortably. Even slept! Daddy hung around, ate a little and things were pretty normal. Apparently there was no dilation from 2pm to 9pm so Mummy got disheartened. The epidural helped to relax her and by 12am Saturday morning, she was fully dilated. I think that meant that she could start trying to push me out. Because the nurses came in and started asking her to push.

She tried… 2 hours. Then Dr Chan assisted me out with this funny brown thing that pulled at my head. Some vaccuum pump they called it. I popped out at 2.16am and everyone looked really happy to see me. Especially mummy. Hmm.

I’m OUT!

More details on my current status as well as birth process in a while… I need to catch up on my beauty sleep!

of weak and weeks

Nope… I am still inside mummy. It is not a very nice place to be at the moment because she is sick. Some flu bug or so she says. Some germs are coming across and disturbing me but other than that, I think I am faring better than mummy is. Wonder why she is so weak. After all, she is bigger than I am. Should be a better fighter right?

Oh well. She is at home now. Or rather at my M grandparents’ place. You don’t know how happy she is to be home and not at work. Well, I do. I know her from the inside… out. Daddy thinks I will be out soon… You think I should meet his desires? He says these few days… But then, with daddy, time is flexible.

Yesterday the two of them were talking about inducing me should I decide to hang around longer than erhmm, what did they say now… ahh… 41 weeks. Daddy says they will start the discussion at week 41 to have me induced by week 42. Seems like they cannot wait to see me! Eh, wait a sneaky minute… today is only week 38 and 2 days. Ok. Maybe they are not that ready to see me yet.

home run

Today mummy decided that she was going to apply for a few more days of leave and round up the working period this weekend. She says she is dead-tired… I wonder why she is tired. Afterall, she is not the one who is doing the growing per se. Most of the work is done by me right?

Look, I was given a deadline of nine months to develop from a single fertilised egg into a baby with zillions of cells. Surely I deserve some credit too? Ok, I know, I know. I had supernatural help from God. But but… surely my efforts count for something…?

THE KIDDOS

Of siblings, a little man and a little miss, growing up in urban Singapore.

  • profileElder brother, Jayden; cheeky lil toddler going through the terrible twos and trying to assert his independence. Is currently easily bribed with POCKY.

  • profileYounger sister, Kathlene; sweet young thing that is still figuring her way out in the world. Is already exhibiting a strong character and looks likely to be the bully between the two. Is quite the charmer who loves being carried.
