There seems to be some invisible barrier. Every time we are nearing the 10kg mark, Jayden misses it by just a bit. He was close to 10kg when he fell ill with the horrible fever. And now, when we think he has actually hit it, he did not. He is at 9.8kg.
Very weird.
Overheard at the paed’s clinic…
Anxious Mum of 16 month-er (AM) : Nurse ah, is my son underweight? Is he small size?
Nurse : Let me check. 16 months, 12kg… no, he is at the 70percentile.
AM : But he looks really small don’t you think?
And there I was in another corner of the clinic, trying my best not to say anything.
Hello mam, your son is 16 months and already bigger than mine at 18 months. Can you not get paranoid about his size?!
Seriously, said kid is ok. Well built. Not baby fat padded all around but good. So really, do you want a michellin kid before you think your child is healthy?
For the record, at *almost* 18 months, Jayden is 9.8kg, 79cm in height. Which puts him at the 40-45 percentile for kids his age. What I would really like to know is… is he topping the charts on activeness?! It sure feels like it.
Elder brother, Jayden; cheeky lil toddler going through the terrible twos and trying to assert his independence. Is currently easily bribed with POCKY.
Younger sister, Kathlene; sweet young thing that is still figuring her way out in the world. Is already exhibiting a strong character and looks likely to be the bully between the two. Is quite the charmer who loves being carried.

Clare’s about 22 months and she’s only 9.1kg. I think she’s she’s still in the 10th percentile, as she’s always been.
I hope she doesn’t over compensate when she grows up and becomes obese or something.

My kid is 16 months and I worry daily about him not putting on weight, doesn’t help that he is one fussy eater. I guess they will eventually catch up…as long as you have an inquisitive, happy kid…don’t fret too much as God will take care of the rest.
