we are family

Last night we went out with my grandma and cousins for a dinner date. Jayden was reasonably good… sitting in his baby chair almost the entire time. He was, of course, clanging away at his cutlery and making a din. But better a din than a scene I say.

And he allowed us to eat our dinner.

He surprised us on many counts. First he interacted well with (great)grandma. He chatted with her, flaying his arms all about the place. Then he decided to get pally with Kevin. After all the previous occasions they had met, all ending in him crying, I guess he figured this particular character wasn’t going to disappear from his life. So he might as well make the most of the situation.

And was rather good about it. By the end of the evening, he wanted to be carried by Kevin, refusing the stroller. And erhmm, Kevin got a pretty decent arm workout. Before Jayden could finally be enticed to walk on back. Show off… gibbering all the way to the doorstep. Then he did his ‘I can climb stairs routine’.

Running around the place (like I did!). I think my mum would remember. Haha. No bones were broken mum…

And to round it all off, we trooped back to my place where Mister Show-off conducted a mini-tour. Complete with ‘run for bolsters’, ‘roll over and drink milk’, ‘jump on mattress’ and ‘climb sofa’ routine.

Oh yes, and the ‘keep toys’ one as well. He thrives on positive affirmation. :D
