busy weekend

So we had some ’spare’ time this past weekend and we packed it all in. Saturday we headed to Carrefour Suntec with my parents for a bit of grocery shopping. We hovered around the bicycle section for a bit, considering whether to get one (for ourselves, not the little fella!) when we plonked him down on one of those bicycle strollers contraceptions.

Bad move. Boy and said toy were inseparable. The minute he was on, he instantaneously knew where to place his feet and his hands went straight for the handle bars. He turned left, right, navigating his way (making it terribly difficult to push him along) through the crowd. When we tried to remove him from the seat, he threw a tantrum. Geez. Spoilt brat. Got to really watch the discipline department now.

With some coaxing, we finally managed to get him off the bike. The toy business is serious business. Said toy retailed at $55 as compared to an adult bike (proper one with brakes and gears and everything!) costing $89. GAH.

Oh I got questions too. For starters .. Why on earth do other babies / toddlers sit quietly in the shopping cart or stroller, even fall asleep while the little joker runs around the children’s department playing peekaboo?

And that was the highlight of the weekend Saturday.

Enroute :: Blissful and completely unaware of the trauma he was going to face …

Sunday rolled around and Jayden had another rite of passage :: first swimming experience.

Eyeing the pool suspiciously …

Jayden was perfectly happy until we got to the water. Then it was cry cry cry all the way. We should have guessed seeing how terrorised the boy already is when we shower him at home. He freaked out in the wading pool. Even as the water came up to his knees (at most), even as the rest of the children came around to encourage and play with him, even as he clung desperately to us, he wailed big time.

Looks like he is not going to get over this irrational fear any time soon.

Oh, his favourite spot in the complex was the shower area (where you douse yourself with water before entering the pool). He loved the tap that you used to watch your feet. The water splashed his body only. Not his head. Happiness.

I’d stay here if you don’t mind …

There is an incriminating video of the cry baby but let’s be nice. For now.
