keeping the spirits up
Remember some time back when Jayden and his daddy were both playing flu ping pong? Well, hopefully those sort of days are well behind us now. A friend got in touch with us after reading about the latest game play and suggested that we try cordyceps. She swore by them. Apparently they worked on her. She said that they helped to relieve her itchy eczema patches, reduce the feeling of tightness in her chest (childhood asthma) and improved her health so much so that she didn’t catch a flu as often as she used to.

Well, I was not quite sure. I mean, the improvement to health was a huge draw but cordyceps was always some chinese ‘herbal thing’ to me. Typically added to soups and sometimes to chicken essence for some additional potency. On its own? Like a powder? Or a capsule? That was new to me. It sounded gimmicky. Would it really work? A quick check with ‘higher authorities’ aka mum, revealed that the brand my friend had suggested, Lifestream had received a good number of positive feedback in several local magazines. Besides, it was readily available at UNITY chains and such. That sounded credible. Not some of those erhmm, fly by night, broken English sort of company, with absolutely no QC. Ok, you get what I mean.
So we tried them. The product profiles came packed with information! Amongst the many stated functions of cordyceps, I found the strengthening of immunity and increase of stamina to be the most encouraging for us. We tried two different products for the two guys. Same thing really. Just different forms. The capsule for daddy and the powder for Jayden. They are both natural with no fillers, stimulants, additives, artificial flavors or preservatives added so it appealed to me. Especially in the case of the silly small boy who’s unbelievably fussy about his food.
He took it well, which really surprised me. I sprinkled the powder in his milk (just a tiny little bit every other day) and it seems to be building his immunity. For all the excitement of trips to Malaysia, outings and the generally crazy weather, his strength is constant(ly driving me up the wall). He did not fall sick and looks in the pink of health. He can’t talk so nothing straight from him.
For daddy, the capsules were downed first thing in the morning on a daily basis. Two capsules on an empty stomach with a glass of warm water and that was it. Very convenient and fuss-free, no need to boil for hours and hours.
He reported an increase level of wakefulness and alertness, even to the point of waking before the morning alarm went off. So all in all, after the first lot of cordyceps supplements, it appears we will be back for more. This time, perhaps I should be in on it as well. I need the energy to keep up with Jayden!
(ps: oh! as I was snapping a picture for this post, I realised its made in SG!)
I’ve taken this too… but never saw it help me. WHy??
Maybe results vary from person to person?
